This work is about my mother, this is my way to remember or imagine the most important moments of my life with her. I don’t remember too much from my childhood and I can’t ask her for details, because she had lost her memory. For last ten years she came to us for three months a year and I came to feel very close to her. My mother is a spiritual person, but her life wasn’t easy. During these years I would repeatedly make sketches and drawings and even realistic portraits but I’m still not sure I succeeded to convey her personality. She remains a “terra incognito” to me, an open space. I have done many portraits on paper and one day I decided that I was ready to summarise this experience and paint her story. My mother was a beautiful woman with an inner beauty. Her grey green eyes shine out yet she looks inside herself. She is always naked in my work because she is a part of nature and the first earthly woman for me
